Terms of Use
Effective 2026-07-15 · 1.0
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of PetitMaker. The English and Chinese versions of these terms are intended to state the same obligations; if they ever appear to conflict, mandatory applicable law controls. PetitMaker is an unofficial, fan-made tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by miHoYo / HoYoverse (COGNOSPHERE PTE. LTD.).
At a Glance
This summary is provided for convenience and does not replace the numbered articles below, which are the binding terms. PetitMaker is a free, browser-based tool for planning maps. It provides no accounts and no cloud saves; everything is stored locally in your browser. Because your work resides in your browser, you are responsible for backing up your own maps by exporting files or images. Sharing an importable image can make the map data it contains accessible to anyone who receives it. The tool is provided "as is", with liability limited to the maximum extent the law allows, and nothing in these terms removes rights that the law does not permit us to remove. These terms are issued by PetitMaker Team; questions or complaints may be directed to selka.craft@outlook.com.
1. Definitions
The following terms carry the meanings given here throughout this document:
- "these terms" means this Terms of Use document, as updated from time to time under Article 21.
- "PetitMaker", "the service", or "the tool" means the PetitMaker web application and the static pages that accompany it.
- "we", "us", or "our" means PetitMaker Team, the party that issues these terms and publishes the tool.
- "you" or "your" means the person who accesses or uses the tool, and, where a parent or guardian accepts on a minor's behalf, that parent or guardian.
- "a map" means the terrain, water, roads, objects, and other content you arrange in the editor.
- "the AI Agent" means the optional feature that sends your prompts and map data to an AI provider you select.
- "an AI provider" means a third-party AI service whose API key you supply and to which the AI Agent sends requests.
- "an importable image" means an exported image that embeds enough data to reconstruct the underlying map, as described in Article 7.
- "the Privacy Policy" means the Privacy Policy published alongside these terms.
2. Acceptance & Capacity
By using PetitMaker, you accept these terms in full. If you do not agree to them, you must not use the tool.
You must be old enough to form a binding agreement in the place where you live, and you must otherwise have the legal capacity to accept these terms. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you may use PetitMaker only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the tool.
3. Service Description
PetitMaker is a free, browser-based, unofficial map-planning tool for the game Petit Planet. It runs entirely within your web browser.
The service provides local-only storage: there are no user accounts and no cloud saves, and your work is stored locally on your device, in browser storage and in any files you export. We do not retain your maps on our servers. The maps you design are planning artifacts, not game content: they are not official game content, are not guaranteed to be reproducible in the game, and create no relationship with the game's publisher.
4. BYOK & AI Providers
The optional AI Agent operates on a "bring your own key" (BYOK) basis: you supply your own key for an AI provider of your choice, requests are sent from your browser to that provider, and you bear any costs the provider charges.
Your use of a provider is governed by your own agreement with that provider. We are not a party to that relationship and are not responsible for it. For a description of what is transmitted, when it is transmitted, and the key-validation request the application makes on key entry, refer to the AI-provider disclosures in the Privacy Policy.
Content the AI Agent generates is produced at your direction and is yours to review before you rely on it. AI output can be inaccurate, can propose a map that is not in fact reproducible in the game, and can reflect the limitations of the provider's model. You are responsible for checking generated content for suitability and for any third-party rights before you use or publish it, on the same footing as content you make by hand (Article 6). We do not warrant the AI Agent's output (Article 10).
5. Acceptable Use
Acceptable use of PetitMaker means using it lawfully and without harming the service or other persons. You agree that you will not:
- use the tool for any unlawful purpose, or to infringe the rights of any person;
- abuse, overload, or interfere with the service or the infrastructure that serves it, including the edge, CDN, and any hosting, whether by automated scraping, excessive automated requests, or other load that degrades the service for others;
- attempt to break, bypass, or probe the application's security other than as permitted by our security policy (see the Security Policy);
- use another person's AI-provider account or API key without authorization, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, key, or system;
- misrepresent your affiliation with the project or its team, impersonate us, or present the tool or your maps as official game content or as endorsed by the game's publisher;
- use the service to violate the intellectual-property or other rights of any third party.
6. User Content & Third-Party Material
As between you and us, you retain any rights you hold in your original contributions. This does not grant you ownership of third-party characters, game assets, trademarks, templates, or other incorporated material.
PetitMaker's own code is licensed under Apache-2.0; the PetitMaker brand, name, and original artwork are separately reserved, all rights reserved unless stated otherwise. The ownership and licensing of every shipped asset is documented in the Asset Licenses document. Petit Planet, whose Chinese name is 星布谷地, and related names, characters, and assets are the property of their respective owners, including miHoYo and its overseas brand HoYoverse (COGNOSPHERE PTE. LTD.); PetitMaker is an unofficial fan project.
7. Importable Images
Exporting or sharing an importable image makes the embedded map data technically accessible to anyone who has the image, who may then be able to reconstruct your map in PetitMaker. This is a technical characteristic of the file; it is not a grant of any copyright license to recipients. You decide what you publish and where, and you should therefore share importable images only with people whom you are content to allow to open your map.
8. Availability, Updates & Discontinuation
PetitMaker is provided as is and as available, with no commitment as to uptime or availability. We may change, suspend, add to, or remove features at any time, and the service may be discontinued. Whatever becomes of the service, the maps and files stored locally on your device remain on your device.
9. User Backup Responsibility
You are responsible for backing up your own work. Because your maps reside in your browser and in the files you export, you should back up anything you value by exporting map files or images. Browser data can be lost, whether through the browser, the device, an extension, or your own actions, including the use of Settings then Local data, and we cannot recover it for you.
10. Warranty Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PetitMaker is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. This mirrors the warranty disclaimer of the software's Apache-2.0 license. We do not warrant that the tool will be uninterrupted or error-free, that maps will be reproducible in the game, or that the AI Agent's output will be accurate or fit for any purpose.
11. Limitation of Liability
PetitMaker is a free tool offered at no charge. We limit our liability to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, maps, or profits, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the tool.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where applicable law does not permit its exclusion.
12. Consumer-Law Savings Clause
If you use PetitMaker as a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of the country or region where you live are unaffected by these terms. Where any term conflicts with a mandatory consumer right, that mandatory right prevails, and the remainder of these terms continues to apply.
13. Intellectual-Property Complaints
If you believe that material in PetitMaker infringes your intellectual-property rights, please contact us at selka.craft@outlook.com with the subject tag [IP]. So that we can act on your complaint, please include enough detail to identify the material and where it appears; the right you hold and the basis for it; your contact information; and a statement of your good-faith belief.
After we receive a complete complaint, we will acknowledge it, review it in good faith, and, where it is well-founded, act on it, including by removing or replacing the material. We will let you know the outcome of our review. If a complaint is unclear or incomplete, we may ask you for the further detail we need before we can act. Nothing in this procedure limits any legal remedy otherwise available to you.
14. Governing Law & Disputes
We prefer to resolve concerns informally in the first instance: please contact us at selka.craft@outlook.com, and we will make a genuine effort to resolve the matter.
We do not impose an aggressive or exclusive court or venue upon you. Where it applies, the mandatory applicable law of the country or region where you live governs these terms and your use of PetitMaker, and you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections and any right to bring proceedings there. This modest posture reflects that PetitMaker is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project.
15. Entire Agreement
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any document they expressly incorporate, are the entire agreement between you and us concerning the free service, and they supersede any prior understanding on that subject. This does not exclude any liability or right that cannot lawfully be excluded, nor any mandatory protection preserved by Article 11 or Article 12.
16. Severability
If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision is severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions continue in full force. Where possible, an invalid provision is read down so as to give the greatest lawful effect to its original intent.
17. No Waiver
If we do not enforce a provision of these terms, or delay in doing so, that is not a waiver of the provision or of our right to enforce it later. A waiver is effective only if we give it in writing, and it applies only to the specific instance and purpose for which it is given.
18. No Assignment & Succession
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to a successor who takes over the operation of PetitMaker, for example if the project's stewardship changes, provided that doing so does not reduce the rights the law grants you as a consumer.
19. Notices
We communicate changes to these terms, and other notices concerning the service, by posting them on the site and, once the project's repository is public, in that repository. Because the service has no accounts, we do not send individual notices; you should review the current version at https://petitmaker.com.cn from time to time. You may reach us for any notice or request at selka.craft@outlook.com.
20. Interpretation
Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. "Including" and "for example" introduce illustrations and do not limit what precedes them. A reference to a statute or law includes that law as it applies where you live and as it is amended over time.
21. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do so, we revise the effective date and policy version shown at the top of this page, so that it is always clear which version applies. We will give reasonable notice of material changes, and continued use of PetitMaker following a non-material update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Prior versions remain available through the project's repository history once it is public. These terms are issued by PetitMaker Team, and the canonical version is published at https://petitmaker.com.cn.
